On tuesdays lesson we got put into groups and this time we used a video camera and we had to practice filming different shots, like medium shots, close up , low shots, etc. I found it ok its just difficult to have a steady hand when filming and making sure that the scene is set so that you dont need to edit to much after filming.

I am glad that i finally finished it and i do think i worked hard to get it completed :)

This slide i wrote about why i picked the magazine. Also why i chose Indie/rock genre for my magazine. I wrote a quite a bit in that slide.

In this slide, i wrote about what software i used i also printscreened Photoshop. And added the logo from blogspot.

I explained that i had soem difficulites with using photoshop and how i couldnt download it onto my computer.

This slide i wrote about the research into the other magazine which i looked at which is Kerrang. I wrote a bit about the history of the magazine. I also kept the colours the same as i did in the begining which was red and blue.

In this slide i wrote about the different pictures i took i think i took about 10-15 pictures just so i had enough to choose from, i did do much editing to my pictures as i knew how i wanted them to look like. In this slide i hadn't wrote to much. Maybe i should have put in the other picutre i used for my contents page. As i put the pictures in from my front cover and double page spread.

This is about my double page spread i again compared it to NME's double page spread with there band they are interviewing.

Overall i think my double page spread looks ok i had difficulites in creating it in photoshop.

I tried not to write to much on my slides , i think the amount i wrote is enough.

My pictures

As i was busy doing my magazine i hadnt made time to continue with my blog and didnt post the pictures i would be using and what i was going to be changing to them or how they will be used on my magazine.

This is my picture i am using on my front cover, i thought it was the best picture for the front cover from all the 15 pictures i took, i had to think about the look i was going for and where i wanted to take the pictures and who would be best to photograph. I am happy with the way they all turned out.

I think its important that i did take alot of pictures as it's easier to choose which one i would use for my final piece and i had alot to choose from which was easier.

Now having completed my magazine this is still the photo i used for the front cover, i didnt need to edit it much because i knew exactly how i wanted it to look like and made sure that when i took the picture it was correctly thought about.

I also read this magazine so i know what they do to actact their readers

The Magazine

After having many difficulities i have manage to complete my magazine i found the process a bit difficulites at times but overall im happy that it has all been completed. I do believe that i have learnt alot from using Photoshop and with the help of others now feel slightly more comfortable to use it again. I still have to finish my 12 slide evaluation i should'nt have any difficulties as its pretty straight forward in what i need to do. Im also going to post some other blogs about previous things i have forgot to post. Such as all my research on magazines.

My Magazine

Over the holidays I have been trying to get the 30 day trial, but that has been a little difficult but I have had a help from a friend so it should work if not i will try again, However in school I managed to complete the front cover and get what i wanted on it and i need to complete the others quickly hopefully photoshop will start to work on my computer or i will have to do it all in school, i feel as though my photshop skills have improved as i had some time before we broke up from school in school to use the computer's and try new things to learn more on how to use photoshop.

I have done my interview with the band for my magazine and i still have not got round to doing the front cover due to the lack of my photoshop skills its been difficult, but i just need help with it and then i think it will be on its way to be finished im worried that i wont have a lot to fill space on my double spread but when i know how to use photoshop it may all work out better :(

I have already taken my pictures for media i new who i was going to use where it would be and what look i was going for so that it would attract the target audience, the magazines genre is indie/rock music. All i need to do now is choose the best picture for the front cover and for the double spread, i also need to write up the interview for it. With all the pictures i took i dont need to do alot of work to them just as i had new exactly what i wanted it to look like.
I know how i want the magazine to look like and what colours and font im going for although im having difficulties using Photoshop at the moment and i still can't think of the name for the magazine.

Catch up again

For Friday 30th Januarys lesson. We had to take pictures of nature for a magazine about nature i worked with Chloe and we went outside of school to take some pictures and we found some good places to find pictures we had some good pictures but when we wanted to take more the cameras memory was full so we had to make a decsion on what we wanted to keep and use or what we needed to delete. Then we went back to school to upload them on the computer to see which one was the best.

In this lesson we where shown by Mark how to use photoshop and all the benefits of using it and how to edit pictures and how to change backgrounds etc. Also you need to save your work or the picture you are using and when your changing it you need to make sure you have your first copy saved.

Due to missing lessons because of my dentist appointments i need to catch up on work.
We are now looking at magazines and genres and how they attract their audiences, i looked at the magazine NME and have researched and compaired the online version to the printed version and found out the similarites and diferences between them.
For my task i have to do a magazine frontcover, contence and centre spread. I'm going to be doing a music magazine genre Indie rock music, i have to take picutres of friends for my magazine which we will be doing this week at school. I also need to come up with a name for my magazine and work out what audience it is focused for.

Foundation portfolio
Preliminary exercise- Make a frong page of magazine of a school/college.
Have to have a photograph of student in medium closeup.
Also magazine cover of a musica magazine double spread. All images used must be original.
